Holy moly, y'all, it's already Friday AND it's almost November. What the what?!
Even though I only worked with my students three days this week, it's still been plenty action-packed. Between leading my own reading workshop on Monday to nine hours of parent-teacher conferences to Fall Festival last night, I'm delighted to the weekend in sight.
Plus, this will be my last weekend with Master's work!!! After starting and stopping and starting and stopping for nearly five years now (thanks hubs), all of my hard work is finally paying off. FINALLY.
I look forward to a weekend when I can actually do normal weekend things like clean my house, get ahead with work for my kiddos, catch up on my blog reading, play around in my garden, watching obscene amounts of college football...the simple things.
If you have been a long-time HHT follower, you would know that this is a segment I used to do every week. However, I quickly found it wasn't turning out to be as organic as I wanted it to be, with me forcing myself to think of things to share rather than actually being eager to share new things with y'all. So, I cut it out in favor of another recipe every week, which I'm still content with.
To compromise, I've decided to still share with y'all the things I'm digging this month...from household decor and entertainment pieces to kitchen gadgets and, of course, yummies.
Without further ado, I give you the Healthy Happy Texan's October round-up! And btw, most of the things you can buy straight from Amazon just by clicking the pic. I've linked it for ya!
1. Nest Cedar Leaf & Lavender Candle
At this point in the year, I'm not quite ready to go full steam ahead with holiday scents. While I love a good pumpkin spice candle or anything that smells like a freshly baked cookie, I absolutely LOVE how clean and slightly woodsy this candle smells. It's definitely easy on the lavender, too, so it doesn't smell like a laundry detergent or foot cream. These candles make PERFECT gifts, too.
2. Red Rising
As an elementary school teacher, I'm a sucker for entertaining young adult literature. If you enjoyed the Divergent series or Hunger Games series, check out these dystopian, post-nuclear Earth series centered around teenagers being forced into adulthood through violent situations. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and look forward to jumping into the next book in the series soon!
3. Estee Lauder Black Plum Nail Polish
This color is my essential fall nail color. In October and November, I'm not ready to go Christmas red or wintery black or gray. This dark plum is neutral yet perfectly autumnal, not being too dark. When it's 87 degrees outside, I just can't wear dark nail color. I don't know why. It just doesn't seem right.
4. Celestial Seasonings Caramel Apple Tea
As the nights are getting cool and crisp, a mug of this tea is like a cozy sweater for my soul. Bright apple, cinnamon spice, and a buttery vanilla come together for a soothing sip that takes like a treat! No caffeine, no calories, but plenty of comfort in a mug!
5. Copper Mugs, aka Moscow Mule Mugs
While I am unable to enjoy the alcoholic mules, y'all already know from last week that this lady still enjoys herself a Mockscow Mule from time to time. Yes, you can drink a mule out of a standard highball glass or stemless wine glass, but it's just not nearly as fun. Trust me. These are a MUST if you want to get your mule on this fall or winter.
6. Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
Michelle, were these a pregnancy-driven impulse buy? ABSOLUTELY! I was in Target after my 12 week check-up and stumbled upon these beauties ON SALE, and it seemed like nothing short of destiny telling me that I needed these. Do I eat them daily? No. Weekly? Maybe. To reassure y'all I'm not fueling my growing son on organic candy, I bought this bag two months ago and still have a few left. Moderation=my jam. I love how with these peanut butter cups you can actually taste the cleaner ingredients. No waxiness or overly sweet, junky sugar, here. Just a makeover on the classic. If you don't want to buy these, you could just make my almond butter M&Ms instead.
What have been some of y'alls favorite things this October? Favorite candles? Reads? Snacks? Nail colors? Let me know! Especially the reads...I'm always looking for something new! Y'all rock. Keep on rockin'!
