So it’s November?
Can someone please explain how that’s even possible?!?
How was your October? More importantly, how have your explorations in pumpkinpalooza been? I’ve heard from some of y’all about kicking butt with my Pumpkin Chili, as well as some of y’all getting a little heavy handed with the cayenne in that Mexican Hot Chocolate Pumpkin Shake.
Even though October is behind us, there’s still weeks of pumpkin love ahead of us. Though now that Thanksgiving is approaching, you’ll start seeing my countdown of 12 festive recipes popping up week after week.
I’ve traded out the witches and mummies for turkeys and pilgrims, and I’m starting to experiment with recipes that would be perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all things festive in between.
Think crowd-pleasing apps, drinks, and desserts along with easy meals that feed a crowd with minimal effort.
Hello cranberries and citrus, chocolate and mint, red velvet, sage and thyme…all those flavors that scream holiday glee.
When will this magic begin?!?! Next week, my darlings!
In the meantime, let’s roll back to what made this past month even more awesome in my world.
1. Copper Flower Vase
Maybe it's because copper mugs are used to serve up my favorite cool weather cocktail- The Moscow Mule- but I'm a sucker for copper this time of year. That gorgeous hue just screams fall and looks fabulous with white, yellow, orange, and red flowers. Consider getting some for your Thanksgiving table, y'all!
2. Good Morning Pumpkin Mug
Pumpkin coffee with pumpkin coffee creamer just tastes better out of a pumpkin coffee mug, right?!?! Plus, since pumpkin is one of my favorite terms of endearment, I enjoy the greeting from my mug every morning...it's the little things in life, huh?
3. The Forgotten Sister
As someone who has watched Kiera Knightley's Pride and Prejudice roughly 50 times (that Mr. Darcy...yummo) and who is a HUGE fan of fractured fiction (everything by Gregory Macguire like Wicked, Mirror Mirror, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister), I've LOVED this version of Pride and Prejudice told from the ugly duckling of the Bennett family- Mary. It's easy to read and super entertaining.
4. Smoked Salt
Ever since I first had this stuff on the rim of a tequila cocktail in Austin a few months ago, I knew I had to get my hands on it...and I sure did! Salty+smokey= YUM! It's fantastic on meat, roasted veggies, and, do I dare push y'all out of your comfort zones, sweets! I've been sprinkling it on oatmeal and smoothie bowls. Don't judge.
5. Pumpkin Body Butter
I'd argue the only thing better than eating pumpkin pie is rubbing it all over your body, right?! This body butter is not greasy nor watery, plus it smells FANTASTIC! It's not too sweet and has hints of apple in it. I promise you you won't smell like a sickeningly sweet candle.
6. Double Unders+Jump Roping
After months of failed experimemation, I've finally bit the bullet and started jump roping again. While I still have some incontinence issues, I've decided enough is enough and I'm going to get that pelvic floor back in shape. Enough is enough. Double unders, I'm after y'all.
