HOLY GUACAMOLE, WHERE DID JUNE GO?!?!
I vaguely remember it being Memorial Day, then blinking and it was Father's Day, and now it's July.
Life when you have a kid=everything is in fast forward, huh?
What a joy it is to watch little McNugget continue to develop and grow into a giggling, smiling, cooing bundle of bliss. Like everyone says, I just can't imagine what my life was like 3.5 months ago without him. What did I do with all of that time? Probably spend more time in grocery stores...
With another month flipped back in our calendars, I want to take a moment to share some of my favorite things these days that have been keepin' me a healthier, happier foodie, fitnessista, and momma. Check em out for yourself. And if you want more details on the products, just click on the image and you'll zip straight over to Amazon.
1. Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner
While I originally bought this to use for my postpartum personal care, I didn't end up needing it for that use because things healed up smashingly. SO, I started trying it out as a toner and have fallen in love!!! Not only is the subtle rose scent so fresh, it isn't harsh whatsoever. I dab it on trouble spots after washing my face in the morning, at the end of the day, and occasionally in the middle of the day if I'm battling a few breakouts. For only $10.51 a bottle, this toner is a great choice for those of y'all who may have sensitive or acne-prone skin.
2. ASICS Gel Cumulus 18 Running Shoe
As someone who walks A LOT, I need an athletic show that is durable, supportive, and won't wear out in 6 weeks. I've experimented a ton with different brands, and I've found ASICS are the BEST for me. Whether I want to set out on a jog or stroll through my neighborhood, get my kickboxing on, or do a cross fit-esque workout, these shoes are versatile enough to keep me comfortable and safe throughout all of these activities. Sure, they aren't cheap, this color that I bought is currently only $52 on Amazon. Not too shabby for a shoe that costs nearly double that in typical stores.
3. Island Hunters
If you love House Hunters and House Hunters International on HGTV or if you just love watching people BUY ISLANDS, this is the show for you! I've quickly become obsessed with HGTV in the past few months (a byproduct of maternity leave, no doubt), and this show is my new favorite. It airs on Sunday nights at 9 and 9:30 (CT).
4. CLIF Salted Caramel Cashew Whey Protein Bars
As someone who is proudly a member of team salty-sweet, I love these protein bars. Not only are they delicious, they have waaaaaayy less sugar than the traditional CLIF bars, not to mention more protein, no soy, and no gluten. On top of all that, a box of 5 is about $8 ($1.64/bar), which is a very fair price for a protein bar.
5. Burt's Bees Cucumber Sage Facial Wipes
As someone who seems to live in a perpetual state of sweatiness (Texas+May-October=SWEATASTIC), these are a summertime MUST for me. Even if you aren't as privileged as I to live in such a steamy area, you could still benefit from these refreshing facial wipes. I love storing mine in the fridge and giving my glistening face, chest, and other areas in need of a little pick-me-up a rub down, leaving me cooler and more pleasantly scented. Like a tiny at-home spa treatment for only $5.12 a pack.
6. Christopher Bean Whole Bean Chocolate Indulgence Decaf
Because I'm nursing, I am very cautious of what I consume, including caffeine. Since I've been on the low-caffine train for over a year (I started limiting it before I was pregnant in order to prep my body for its absence...I'd highly advise it), I'm always on the look-out for tasty decaf flavors that come in whole bean. This brand, Christopher Bean, makes some YUMDUMPTIOUS decaf flavors, and this one is not too chocolatey or fake tasting. Plus, it smells insanely delicious. For only about $8 a pound, it makes giving up caffeine a breeze.
7. Workout Jams
What can I say? I love a good hip-hop/pop beat...be cautioned, though, cause most of these songs have not-so-clean versions out there. I've hooked y'all up with clean versions, though. Of course, if you want the bad words in there, be my guest [cue Lumière and other singing dinnerware].
Wiggle (feat. Snoop Dogg) by Jason Derulo
New Thang by Redfoo
Despacito by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber
That's all for today, puddin' pops! I'll cya tomorrow with a tasty summer sip....here's a little sneak peak...
