As I’ve confessed to y’all a few times, there are some weeks in which I set foot in grocery stores other than Wal-Mart. While I’m away from my beloved Corsicana Wal-Mart for another few days, I’ve decided to make the best of this time apart by sharing with y’all some goodies I’ve found at other notable stores.
Last week, I shared some of my seasonal favorites from Trader Joe’s.
This week, while browsing what kind of deals I could get on Christmas decorations, especially Christmas lights, I decided to mosey around Target and see what kinds of Paleo or at least gluten-free finds I could uncover for y’all. While there, I, of course, at to stop by the Dollar Section (which is totally the $3-5 section but whatevs) and the maternity and baby sections just for kicks.
Here's a round-up of some of the pregnancy, paleo, and all around good fun I ran into last night at Target. And P.S., if you're wanting to stock up on discounted Christmas decorations, scurry on down ASAP because they're going, going, almost gone!
I've really been digging holiday banners to string under my mantle...the 'dollar' section certanily enables my habit. There were about three different Valentine's themed ones available, and this one seemed the least girly of the options (not the Mister HHT really would complain)
Yes, I've already started slowly adding to my collection of nursing attire. I was pumped to see Target has a variety of nursing tanks for about $20 each. Score! They have nursing bras, too, for very reasonable prices.
As someone who has been poundin' the mocktails these past few weeks, I was thrilled to find these organic sodas that would make delightful mixers or mocktails. This flavor in particular sounded amazing! While they're not cheap at $6.99 for a 4-pack, they're still cheaper than alcoholic beverages.
I first tried this brand of gluten-free cookies on my last United flight from Dallas to Houston. The snickerdoodles are deilghtful, too. These cookies are fluffy, light, and still have a nice lemony favor without any funky aftertaste that some gluten-free cookies sometimes leave you with.
OMG these crunchies are so yummy! As someone who doesn't really love chips or crackers but still appreciates crunchy snacks, these add a nice crunch to trail mixes, yogurt, granola, or oatmeal. From apple to coconut to banana, you can't go wrong with any of these flavors!
Dang is right! This company has a few other flavors of coconut chips, but I'm addicted to these caramel sea salt variety. The salty-sweet combo is always a winner for me. Crumble these onto ice cream/fro-yo/sorbet for a magical dessert or just open up and snack away. Be warned, though, they are addictive! Plus they're only $3 a bag.
I first stumbled upon these during a hormone-driven trip through Target this summer when I was craving a little bit of everything...I love that these are bite-sized, allowing me to indulge in my chocolate-peanut butter desires without any guilt. They're not squeaky clean, but they're still pretty darn clean and delicious.
Another one of my first trimester go-tos was this microwave popcorn. There were some lunches this summer in which I would eat an entire bag of this stuff with some apple slices and turkey meat. I love how this popcorn allows you to add as much or as little of the seasoning as you want.
A rainbow of Krave jerky! This brand still is my favorite jerky I've come in contact with so far. With no gluten involved, this is a great protein-rich snack that I often keep in my purse for those moments when mama NEEDS a snack. The sweet chipotle is my #1 choice, though the black cherry barbecue is solid as well.
Target knows seasonal coffee, y'all. While I've backed off the caffinated coffee this fall and winter, I've had this candy cane flavor before. It's the perfect way to satisfy my hankering for a peppermint mocha minus the $4 and unnecessary sweeteners and chemicals that are often snuck in those.
While I love making my own granola, there are some weeks when I just want to buy some instead...I think my hormones are getting me ready for motherhood when a sister just wants some shortcuts in life. Anyways, I love how this granola isn't too sweet and still has some clusters in the mix.
Maratha does it again, friends. I love this brand's crunchy almond butter, but this coconut flavor rocks my socks. Not too sweet and no artificial coconut flavor, this almond butter would be a solid addition to any of your almond butter collections...because we all have collections, right?
Almond butter in a pouch? Why didn't I think of that?! I already love the travel-friendly packets that TSA won't take away from me on flights. But I love the idea of this light, flexible pouch! This brand has both almond and peanut butter varieties, too. At $7.99 a pouch, they're pretty much the same price as other almond butter jars.
This looks like my pregnant snacking dream! Like a paleoish lunchable, I could see myself keeping a few of these on hand in the fridge for days this spring when I just can't wrap my mind around making myself a real meal. These would be great for road trips, too!
While I'm paleo most of the time, I appreciate a quality cheese when I can get my hands on it. This company allows the cows to graze freely on grass and treats them humanely and with dignity, making for tastier cheese. Yes, I think it does make a difference in the nutrition and taste. And at around $4 for almost half a pound, it's a pretty solid steal.
I'm not eating a ton of deli meat these days, but if I do I like having this brand on hand. They're reasonably priced, gluten-free, and humanely raised. I plan on keeping plenty of these on hand come March when I need a quick, protein-rich snack between feedings and naps and snuggles.
MUCHA KOMBUCHA! I stood in awe at the selection and varieties and flavors Target had to offer. With several on sale for 2/$5, that's about a cheap as it gets for this fermented tea beverage. If you haven't had kombucha before, I recommend starting with Kevita, which isn't as potent as other probiotic drinks like kombucha.
I know, I know...fall is over. Pumpkin Tuesday is long gone. But I couldn't help but share this find with y'all. Not overly pumpkiny, I enjoy the autumnal spicey scent and the clean ingredients that don't break out my skin. Yes, cheap lip balms make me break out. Such is life.
Alright y'all, hopefully I've added a few ideas to your next Targetting trip! Not that most of us need more things to impulsively buy at Target, I hope there's something here that strikes your fancy. If not, I hope I entertained you for a few minutes on this lovely Wendesday morning! Keep on rocking, y'all. Two more days until the weekend.
