Happy Friday homies! We’ve made it once again, though I must admit this Friday I’m a little bummed since it’s my last day at the beach with the fam. It goes so fast…I’m just grateful for the time that I get to spend with them. I hope you’ve been challenging yourself this week to start each day with an attitude of gratitude (see Monday's post). With so much hatred surrounding us daily, it’s easy to get swept into the fear and paranoia. The good news is that I know love wins; Christ’s love overcomes. So, I’m choosing love over hate. My prayers go out to the people in Nice whose worlds have been rocked and loved ones have been taken due to hatred.
With that said, I want to keep truckin’ on with y’all today. Here are some things I’ve been lovin’ this week! Enjoy and have a marvelous weekend!!
Getting to be with this little man the past few weeks has been wonderful. When you live states away from your family, you easily stay in touch by texting, calling, and occasionally Facetiming. But with the family Bassett, phone calls don’t cut it. There’s nothing better than in-person cuddles. I already miss his shenanigans and adorableness.
2. Andrew Peterson's Fantasy Series
If Harry Potter, Narnia, or any other fantasy epic involving creatures in magical worlds appeals to you, then I recommend this series for you! Being geared toward kids, it’s a fast read (I’m talking 36 hours) and would be appropriate for nearly any audience. It’s pretty clean (no Game of Thrones brutality), with a few twists to keep you guessing. On the Dark Sea of Darkness is the perfect beach/lake/pool/don't-want-to-go-outside-cause-it's-too-darn-hot read.
3. Plantain Chips
Dear plantain chips, why are you so wonderful? You make scooping chicken salad, salsa, and guac all the more magical. Paleo-friendly, affordable, convenient, and a boost of vitamin C make this my go-to chip these days. I dig these from Trader Joes (that you can buy on Amazon!).
If you have never stepped into Dolly Parton’s mountain-themed amusement park in Pigeon Forge, TN, YOU HAVE NOT LIVED. Family-friendly, SUPER clean (seriously, you could eat off the ground there), and workers that are either popping Xanax or just that genuinely delighted to be there. My parents and I went before heading to the beach, and we rocked every single rollercoaster Ms. Parton threw at us. I think Disney has a rival for happiest place on Earth. Too bold? I think not.
5. Passion Fruit La Croix
I’ve been on the sparkling water train for a few years now, and La Croix keeps stepping up their flavor game. Just when I think they’ve outdone themselves, they go and totally rock my world. What’s passion fruit taste like, you ask? Unicorn tears, rainbows, and dolphin love.
6. Dumbbell Snatches
I had shied away from this move in the past, and I finally broke down and tried it. It was love at first snatch. This explosive overhead move can help improve balance, core strength, and ensures equal strength development on both sides of your upper body. Booya!
