Happy day-after-the-Fourth, y'all!
Hopefully, you aren't suffering from too many overconsumption ailments...
Too much sun, too many s'mores, too many sliders, too many adult slushies.
Though if I had to totally dive into the deep end, that's a combination almost worthy of the ramifications to my skin, digestive tract, and waistline.
Whether you're ending a Fourth of July vacation or just starting one or about to in a few days (THAT'S ME!!!!), we could all use plenty of healthy snacks and meal ideas to keep us fueled throughout our summer shenanigans.
If you're tubing down the Brazos river or hiking around Red Rock or trying to keep your infant from consuming too much sand on the shores of South Carolina (I'll let you guess which category I will soon be in), there will be a Wal-Mart in your vicinity that will help you stick to your budget and health goals this summer.
And here's some of the paleo-friendly finds I've found for y'all this week!
1. Organic Sesame Seaweed Snacks
WHAT: Sesame flavored dried seaweed sheets
WHERE: Asian product aisle
WHY: Naturally gluten free and dairy free, these low calorie, salty snacks are tasty on their own or a delicious with smoked salmon, tuna salad, or other seafood wrapped inside…think of it like lazy sushi
2. Wickles Wicked Okra
WHAT: Sweet and slightly spicy pickled okra
WHERE: Pickle/olive section
WHY: One of my go-to salty snacks, they are low-calorie and would be a delicious addition to a burger, gumbo, or, if you dig them, bloody Mary.
3. GT’s Gingerberry Organic Kombucha
WHAT: Ginger+berry bubbling probiotic drink
WHERE: Specialty juice section in the refrigerated produce aisle
WHY: Loaded with gut-friendly probiotics, this low-sugar, carbonated beverage is a perfect alternative to soda. Tart but bright, it’s super refreshing!
4. Local Blueberries
WHAT: Blueberries from Fred, Texas
WHERE: Refrigerated Berry Case
WHY: Supporting local farmers! Yeay! Plus, in season produce=cheaper produce!
5. Nature Nate's Raw Honey with Comb
WHAT: Locally-produced, raw, unfiltered honey with the comb
WHERE: Nut butter and jam section
WHY: Loaded with antioxidants, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and other healthy properties, raw honey is a delicious way to add a little sweetness to your smoothies, baked goods, or cheese board. And yes, you can eat the comb, too. I slather it on a GF cracker with a sharp grassfed cheese.
That's all for this week, gang! Remember, if any of these goodies hop into your cart soon OR you stumble upon something else that you think is HHT worthy, snap a pic and post/tag me on Facebook or Instagram. You can always email me your ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org , too!
