Well hellllloooo Wednesday!
Seems like ages since you were last here…
Though all life seems to slow down when you are flying solo with your 3 month old for 5 straight days while baby daddy attends a conference in Colorado…sometimes, life ain’t fair. Just a fact of life.
Boy was I glad to see him show up Tuesday afternoon. To be fair, I have a wonderful kid who is pretty darn easygoing. Still, 5 straight days is a loooot of bonding for us.
Mad props to the single parents out there. I salute you.
But enough of that pitty party, because I’m SUPER pumped to share with y’all another round of paleo-friendly, summer beach bod-friendly treats and snacks from the one, the only, Wal-Mart!
1. Organic Peaches
WHAT: 2 Pound bags of organic peaches
WHERE: Peach/plum/nectarine bins
WHY: As one of the dirty dozen, peaches are typically one of the most heavily sprayed fruits out there; going organic with peaches is a solid choice; and for $2.23 a pound, you can have organic on a budget!
2. al fresco Sweet Italian Chicken Sausages
WHAT: Gluten free, fully cooked chicken sausage studded with bell peppers
WHERE: Sausage section near deli meat
WHY: Fully cooked, minimal added ingredients, and packed with protein, these make for easy, on-the-fly meals.
3. Beemster Mild Dutch Cheese
WHAT: Aged, lactose-free, semi-soft cheese that’s reminiscent of a gouda
WHERE: Specialty cheese case near deli
WHY: Rich, creamy, and slightly sweet, this aged gouda would be a fantastic addition to a cheese board, burger, or salad. Plus, it’s lactose free, which rocks for people like me who don’t tolerate dairy very well.
4. Tay’s Gourmet Banana Pecan Crunch Granola
WHAT: Banana bread-flavored, all natural granola
WHERE: Tucked up with other granolas across from natural cereals (like Kashi and Nature’s Path)
WHY: With only ingredients you can pronounce, this granola is wheat-free, loaded with fiber, iron, protein, and omega 3 fats, plus non-GMO ingredients. Not to mention it’s DELICIOUSLY ADDICTIVE! Be warned.
5. Think Thin Protein & Superfruit Coconut Almond Chia Bars
WHAT: High fiber+high protein snack bar
WHERE: Gluten-free section (I love that this exists now!)
WHY: I’m so glad this brand has finally come out with protein bars that don’t have soy in them!!! No soy, no gluten, and nutrient dense, these bars are a great on-the-go pre/post workout snack.
Okey dokey, y'all, that's all for this week. Remember, if you're out grocery shopping and see something you think I'd dig, snap a pic and post it to Facebook or Instagram tagging me in it. You could also email me your idea at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be well, friends, and I'll cya Friday!
