How’s it hangin’?
For us, life is grand. We’ve made it through the three month growth spurt. We’re working on sleeping in the big boy crib and makin’ moves toward an early bedtime. I cannot complain one tiny bit.
With summer officially here, there’s days of tank tops, short shorts, and, egads, swim suits extending far ahead of me.
I still have plenty of squish left on this body, and I know nutrition is critical for my fat loss goals. And did you know Wal-Mart can be part of a healthy, Paleo-friendly AND budget-friendly lifestyle?
It sure can!
Here’s my Top 5 finds from this week that I found to help keep me fueled, fed, and focued on my body composition goals this summer.

1. Quest Blueberry Muffin Bars
WHAT: Blueberry muffin-flavored protein bars
WHERE: Nutrition/protein bar section near vitamins
WHY: Portable protein, gluten-free, low sugar, and low carb with blueberry muffins bits scattered throughout. Plus they're cheaper at Wal-Mart than Amazon or GNC. Warm one in your microwave for ten seconds. I dare ya.
2. Pre-cut Butternut Squash
WHAT: Washed, skinned, diced butternut squash
WHERE: Precut vegetable section of refrigerated product aisle
WHY: Talk about a time saver! Just dump it on a sheet pan, slather on some coconut oil and spices, and roast for 20-30 minutes and you’ve got a healthy, delicious side!
3. Kerrygold Kildrey Cheese
WHAT: Grassfed, Irish Aged Cheese
WHERE: Specialty cheese case near deli
WHY: As someone who doesn’t tolerate conventional dairy, my skin and digestion do just fine with organic or grassfed dairy. Plus, aged cheddar packs a serious flavor punch, so a little goes a long way.
4. Fresh Riced Cauliflower
WHAT: Riced, or they call it ‘diced’, cauliflower
WHERE: Precut vegetable section of refrigerated produce aisle
WHY: Time and mess saver! I love riced cauliflower, but I always get tiny pieces of cauliflower all over my kitchen counters and floor. Not anymore! Sautee for a few minutes for a quick side!
5. Pressed by Kind Pineapple-Banana-Kale-Spinach Bars
WHAT: Fruit+Veggie Snack Bar
WHERE: Granola bar end of cereal aisle
WHY: Perfect portable snack for y’all who have nut allergies or nut-averse kiddos, not to mention all natural, no sugar added, and veggies! Thanks Laura C. for sharing this find with me (she found them at Costco, too!).
