Happy Saturday, y'all! What a glorious day it is, indeed!
It's a crisp fall morning. I've got my Vol mug filled to the brim, and I'm fueling up for a day of good ol' fashioned family fun in College Station to see my beloved Tennessee Vols that I have been faithfully following ever since I was old enough to dawn a Vol cheerleading uniform and do some solid coloring at the games.
Since I have lived away from Tennessee for nine years now, I've found my love and dedication to the obnoxious Big Orange has only intensified with every passing year. Alas, with no fall break as a teacher, I am unable to make the pilgrimage back to Neyland Stadium every fall. Therefore, when my boys are playing two hours away from my house, you'd better believe I will drop what I'm doing, throw on my Peyton Manning #16 jersey, and hightail it to support them.
If you've been active on Facebook this week, you will have seen the daily attacks my Aggie husband has been posting on his page, pathetically attempting to convince the good people of Facebook that Texas is superior to Tennessee. While I was able to ignore the social media-based shenanigans all week (largely because I hardly have time to deal with it between molding third grade minds, teaching Zumba, attending multiple after-school meetings and a training in Waco, blogging, and completing my final Master's project...kinda busy, y'all), it got real when I came home from a long day on Wednesday to find this...
My husband had the GALL to remove my Volunteer flag and hide it from me. Now it's personal.
Naturally, I had to go into his closet and drawers and remove everything maroon or Aggie-related in order to create a fair hostage situation. Needless to say, it was an effective bargaining tactic.
With all of that said, in the wild whirlwind that was my week, I managed to prioritize two things: sleep and exercise. Below I've got my workouts for the week, some shorter than others but all worthwhile for my health, sanity, and peace of mind!
Sunday- day off, neighborhood walk while catching up with my fan
Monday- Taught Zumba, the only way I can do cardio for an hour
Tuesday- Twenty-minute Tone-Up
800 M jog to warm-up
20 of each: push-ups, squats (45), deadlift high pulls (45), sumo squats (45), overhead plate swings (25)
Repeat doing 15 of each and then 10 of each
Wednesday- I've Got the Black Lung, Pop (quick workout but you will be winded...push through it)
Thrusters (25), push-ups, front squats (45), wall balls (12), burpees, wall ball sit-ups
Thursday- day off since I had to go up to Dallas, cardio=shopping at Target and Sprouts
Friday- Functional Fun Friday
1 mile jog to warm-up
10 rounds: 1 pull-up, 2 clean and jerks (55), 3 thrusters (35)
2 minute rest
3 rounds: 5 overhead plate swings (35), 10 rows (55), 15 wall balls (14)
Saturday- SEC workout- tailgating, screaming my face off, trying to keep my blood pressure down while watching the game, and walking all over A&M campus
All righty friends, with all that said, I hope you are having a marvelous weekend. It's absolutely a gorgeous day to be alive, and I hope you make the most of it! Be well, and I'll check in with ya Monday.
Healthy Happy Texan
