It’s Friday! How y’all doin? This week flew by…I still feel like I just got back from my vacation. We’ve got a SUPER EXCITING weekend at our house, seeing as I’m finally getting a sister. And what a sister she is! My brother-in-law is getting married to a Louisiana lady who is the epitome of grace. I am so blessed to have her join the fam.
In honor of the wedding weekend and glorious celebration ahead, I'm kickin off this week's list with a cocktail recipe to celebrate the beautiful union happening tomorrow! Cheers to Julie and Thomas!!! Lousiana, here we come!
Much like the stellar marriage goin down tomorrow, this is a beautiful union of my two favorite beverages. First of all, prosecco is my JAM. All the fizzy pizzazz of champagne for a fraction of the cost. I still feel a little weird ordering champagne if I’m not at a wedding or other fancy-pants event, but prosecco seems like the chill, mellow, non-diva cousin to champagne. Now, imagine that cool as a cucumber bubbly drink had a baby with a margarita...yeah…sounds too good to be true, right? WRONGO! We had some leftover frozen margarita (when does that ever happen?) from a party hangin in the freezer. And I wanted an excuse to have some prosecco on a Tuesday night. AUREKA! The proseccorita was born.
2. Crunchy Almond Butter
I am a texture kind of gal. I always am topping my meals (smoothies, salads, and soups especially) with something to add some crunchy, crisp, or some type of contrast. Life is too short to eat things that taste like paste…crunchy almond butter solves this problem with ease. Plop it on top of oatmeal, smoothies, ice cream, sweet potatoes (yeah, I said it), or sliced fruit and experience a whole new eating experience. Let's be real, you can eat it straight from the jar with a spoon (if you claim you've never done that you may need to have an honest conversation with yourself). Believe me, I've tried a ton of brands, and this one is by far the most spectacular.
3. Yes to Grapefruit Face Scrub
4. So You Think You Can Dance
I've been a die-hard SYTYCD dance fan since season 2. This is the first time they've featured dancers all under the age of 13. An episode doesn’t go by that I don’t cry just a little. It’s so moving to see such young people dance with such control and emotion (not to mention ridiculous skills)! The elementary school teacher in me loves seeing kids do cool stuff. I know it’s not for everyone (cough cough, I'm looking at you mom), but it’s impressive dancing nonetheless.
5. All The Light We Cannot See
6. Thick Workout Headbands
Whether it’s an old-school bandana or organic cotton headband, I am living in thick headbands this summer. They’re easy to wash, inexpensive, and could be coordinated to any workout attire. Variety of colors PLUS hiding my dirty sweat hair= VERY NICE
7. Workout Jams
Alright my lovely friends, that's all for this Friday. And since it's Friday, go make a batch of Proseccoritas and get your weekend started off blissfully. Make joyful choices and be well.
If you make any of my recipes, please show it off to me. Snap a picture and tag me in it on Facebook or Instagram (or both!). Y'all are awesome. Keep on being your awesome selves.
