I can hardly believe I’m over halfway through my first pregnancy! Wow wee wow wow!
As those of you mommas out there won’t be surprised to hear, the second trimester is a whole new ball game in the pregnancy world. So long super smell and nausea. Saynoara psycho mood swings. Adios aversions and cravings.
It’s like one day a hormonal light switch flicked and I felt like myself again. Hallelujah!
With that said, there have still been some interesting things happening with this Healthy, Happy, Preggo Texan I want to share with y’all. For those of you are currently pregnant or who plan on becoming pregnant one day, I find it helpful to hear about what’s going on month by month with other ladies to help me know what’s normal or what’s to be expected.
Sure, no pregnancy is the same, even with the same woman. Nonetheless, there are still some common trends and patterns that I can share with y’all you can possibly relate to (or share how your pregnancy at four months was totally different).
Aversions: NONE! All of those first trimester foods that made me want to gag a little (coffee, protein powder, seafood) are back and kickin.
Cravings: Nothing odd or as overpowering as the first trimester. Some things I’m still digging are-
Sleep: Like a champ. No more naps for this lady. In fact, my body seems to only want 8 hours a night, even on the weekends when I have the opportunity to sleep in. I can occasionally get nine hours on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Weight Gain: As of my four-month check-up, I was up about 15 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. The majority of my weight gain is in my hip/thigh/booty region in addition to my burgeoning bump. With that said, my bump is pretty low, so most of my pre-baby pants aren’t happening. Stretchy, legging-like jeans are working for sure though! I haven’t had to switch over to all maternity pants just yet.
Aches/Pains/Discomforts: I’d say pretty mild. If I’ve sat or laid down for a while, my back is stiff upon standing and I have to gingerly walk for a few seconds to stretch it out. Also, my upper abdominal muscle has started twitching on occasion due to the activity of the muscle growing and expanding daily. Other than that, I’m feeling GREAT!
Appetite: Totally normal. No more hanger. No more I-must-eat-now-or-I’ll-punch-someone feelings. In fact, some mornings I have to make myself eat, which is how I used to be before pregnancy.
Workouts: Since my belly is growing, certain things are changing, such as:
As my fourth month of pregnancy comes to an end, I must say I’m LOVING my second trimester. He’s growing, I’m growing, and with each passing day I’m more and more eager for him to get here. Yet I also can understand why this is nearly a year-long process; hearts gotta prepare for adding a new life into it.
Y’alls continued prayers and support are still appreciated.
Alrighty, here’s today’s question I have for y’all: What were your TOP 5 things from your registry you’d recommend to a new mom and what were things you didn’t end up needing from your registry. I’d love your advice!
Have a marvelous weekend and I'll see y'all Monday, where I'll be posting from KNOXVILLE!!!!
