You’re, by far, one of the items I just couldn’t give up when I made the shift to the paleosphere (since oats are a no-no in the paleo rule book).
Your crunchy oats kissed by honey and wrapped in cinnamon and possibly studded with dried blueberries or walnuts…you’re just too good!
You top smoothies, oatmeal, and parfaits; heck, you’ve even made it into frozen yogurt stores along the toppings bar.
Way to go!
You sure are loved.
And while you often pose as a healthy item, you’re often far from it due to the boat loads of crappy vegetable oils and sugar and sugar and sugar.
That innocent yogurt parfait has quickly turned into a sugar bonanaza.
Heaven forbid there’s dried fruit in it, which just ups that sugar level any more since most dried fruit out there has added sugar (I KNOW!!! Totally rains on my parade; why add more sugar to sugar?!).
But what if I told y’all that it’s possible to still enjoy that crispety, crunchity, sweet breakfast treat that is bursting with fruity deliciousness sans the sugar coma that often ensues?
Yup, this homemade granola is way healthier and cheaper than any store-bought one out there!
Plus, it’s bursting with festive flavor thanks to fresh cranberry and orange making it a fabulous homemade Christmas gift for neighbors, friends, and those deserving of a little somethin somethin in your life!
And yes, that deserving person just might be you, too!
As a hardcore granola addict, it’s been one of those foods I had a hard time parting with when I started on this paleo journey several years go. In fact, I’ve always kinda just looked the otherway and still consumed it regularly.
But, in cause you haven’t waltzed along the granola section of the grocery store of late, it can be kinda expensive. Especially if you find one that actually has quality ingredients, like this Purely Elizabeth company that I’m CRAYCRAY for.
The problem is that I don’t have boochus of cash money to spend on high quality granola every week. Thus, I’ve gotta make my own.
And it really couldn’t be easier or healthier!
How easy peasy paleo is this, y’all?
I love this granola atop my smoothie bowls, sprinkled over overnight oats, and even tossed over a pear salad.
Granola on a pear salad? Trust me…it works.
If that’s a little too odd for you, then stick with it on your morning oatmeal or just snack on it by the handful.
Here’s a few notes about this recipe before we rock and roll onward:
Y’all wouldn’t this make such a pretty little Christmas gift for a teacher or pastor or someone you wanna get a little treat for? Wrap it up alongside a fun mug and nice coffee and you’ve got a thoughtful lil gift!
