Somehow it’s Saturday…where does my time go?!
Thanks to the 4th hour of the Today show (i.e. Spanky Tuesday, Wine-day Wednesday, Try-day Friday), I can usually keep up with what day of the week it is. But the date, heck even the month, can get a bit hazy these days.
If you’ve been in my new mom shoes before, know that the inability to keep track of time is compounded if you’re a teacher on summer break…
Thank goodness for my 'Day by Day' calendar that sits in my kitchen window from my Christmas stocking this year. I’d be otherwise lost.
No matter what day of the week it is, though, you better believe this 3-month postpartum mommy is getting in some type of activity daily. Whether it's a class at my YMCA to a workout I found on YouTube in my den to a power walk, I'm keeping my muscles guessing.
Plus, with a beach trip weeks away, I’d like to feel somewhat confident about my bathing suit-clad mommy body.
Don’t worry, I’m still keeping my workouts moderate…I know that putting in hours of exercise doesn’t always yield the results I think it would. My main focus as bikini time draws near is nutrition. I’m working on a post to share more of my summer tone-up tricks and tips soon!
In the meantime, though, I’ll be sharing what I ate in an average day with y’all in addition to my workouts…and this is an honest glimpse, too…I know some bloggers may post pics of meals containing only celery sticks, hardboiled eggs, steamed brocolli and broiled salmon. Yes, I enjoy eating all of those foods, but an active, milk-producing lady like myself needs waaaay more out of her macronutrients than a strict no carb, high-protein, medium fat diet.
I eat to fuel. I eat what my body nudges me to eat. I eat when I’m hungry, and I stop when I’m full.
I’ve shared with y’all how it took me a lot of prayer, grace, time, and trial/error to reach the current relationship I have with food. If you haven’t checked out that post, it’s worth a gander.
Alrighty friends, no more of that soap box, time for my workouts and how I fuel them!
Good morning gang!
Whatcha up to this weekend? Are y'all starting Spring Break already, or do you have another few weeks? Or, my condolences ahead, are you in a phase of life where Spring Break no longer exists? Once again, I'm ever so sorry.
What am I up to? Just MORE nesting, resting, and enjoying a few more days (or week...whatever this boy wants is what he gets) of serenity before my world gets totally rocked in the best way possible.
And what am I up to in the gym? Same as last week, and the week before, and the week before that. My doctor praised me for still working out and walking, but I told her that exercise for me is as much for my physical health as it is my mental health, too. Once my little man gets here, I know I'll need to give my body some time to rest and recover and nurture my son, but I know I'll be eager to get working out again. If I don't take care of myself, I don't see how I can give my son 110%.
No matter how hectic your schedule is this week or weekend, remember you have to make time for your health. You owe it not only to yourself but to your family; you can't be your best if you aren't healthy.
Okey dokey peeps, here's what my boy and I have been doin' in the gym this week. In addition, I'm sharing what this super pregnant, paleo lady eats on an average day. These days, what I'm eating at this point in the pregnancy isn't all that different from non-pregnant Michelle. My appetite isn't tremendous, and when I do get hungry I can only eat so much. Little man is takin' up loads of my food's real estate. But, nonetheless, I'll share what I nosh on to nourish us both.
Have a fabulous weekend friends. And I'll catch y'all Monday!
Good morning, you delightfully-made human, you!
And Merry Christmas Eve, y’all!
I must admit, I feel like Santa has come early this year for me! In case you haven’t been up on Mister HHT’s life, he has temporarily moved to DC to work on President elect Trump’s general counsel for the Inaugural Committee. Fancy, huh?
Anyways, he's taking up a new though temporary residence in DC over the past week, so yesterday he flew in to glorious TYS here in Knoxville. Naturally, I’ve been a pretty happy camper to have my baby daddy around, if only for a few days.
With TWO YMCA’s within 10ish miles from my parents house here in Knoxville, I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the West Side and Downtown locations, getting my group exercise classes on! Golly, I just love a good class.
Most of my workouts this week have been centered around classes, though today I cranked out a delightful 12 Days of Christmas workout to share with y’all. Tis the Season, after all!
Over the next few days, between the presents and brunches and cookies galore, I urge you to take fifteen to twenty minutes for your health- a quick walk, jog, or even a little stretching. I know it’s a busy time of year, but you deserve a little time for you.
To add to your merriment today, I though I’d share with y’all what a typical day of my eating looks like, especially now that I’m pregnant. A little more dairy, a little more fruit and other carbs, and trying to make sure I’m keeping up my calories with a little more snacks.
So, here’s what I’ve been doing for workouts this week and fuel for one typical day. Despite my burgeoning belly and some of your disbelief, I’m feeling up to kickboxing, Zumba, and even an occasional jog! Check out my other fitness festivities, and be well!
And wherever you are celebrating this Christmas, I wish you peace and joy that cannot be bought or baked or bestowed. That peace, that fuzzy sweater for our soul, can only come from one source: Our Heavenly Savior. I hope and pray you are just overstuffed with His glorious joy this Christmas weekend.
And, of course, I love y'all and appreciate y'all sticking around with me week after week. See y'all Monday!
