So sometimes, when I’m in the big city of Dallas, and sometimes= nearly always, I gotta hit up my old stomping grounds.
The Park Cities YMCA.
But, when I have the time, I go back to where I’ve spent many a Saturday morning or afternoon or, heck, even evening, Sprouts Farmer’s Market.
If you’ve never set foot in a Sprouts, I’m genuinely sorry for you. While they’re currently only open in 15 states in the southeast+southwest+west coast, they’re slowly expanding.
What’s it like in a Sprouts?
It’s kinda a mashup between Trader Joe’s (loads of seasonal produce and items+solid storebrand items) and Whole Foods (health food galore).
When I lived in Dallas, it was my weekly stock-up spot due to its reasonable prices and fantastic selection of meats, produce, dairy, and bulk bin selection.
Clearly, I pushed McNugget's limits in there, because he was wiped out by the end of our time in there...plus it was nearly his dinnertime
Curious if you have one near you? Head over to their location page to investigate by clicking here.
Got one nearby?
Then here’s what you gotta go toss in your card today!
Trader Joes, it’s been too long.
Like, nearly 6 weeks since I’ve graced your aisles of food items that I usually don’t need but just can’t seem to live without…
That’s pretty much the beauty of specality grocery stores.
Purple sweet potatoes, almond butter granola, jalapeño limeade…
Y’all, to me, those are needs, not just wants.
This paleo foodie gets so much joy out of discovering new snacks, treats, and everything in between.
So when I was just a few miles from a Trader Joe’s earlier this week and I knew the store was overflowing with pumpkin all the things, I couldn’t help but drag my teething tater of a 6.5 month old in for a half hour of paleo foodie bliss.
Of course, he thoroughly enjoyed himself, too.
So what wondrously delicious, fall-tastic and paleo(ish) goodies did I discover at Trader Joe's this week?
Oh. My. Lordy.
Just y’all wait.
AND, I decided to take things one step further and tell y'all how I'd use [nearly] each ingredient this week. So, if there's an item that you don't know how or why you'd buy it, click on the image for a link to one of my recipes to use it with.
Yup, it's like I've hooked y'all up with a shopping AND meal guide in one.
You are welcome.
If you were hoping for a little #Paleowalmart action today, I apologize.
But can you blame me for hitting up Trader Joe’s a few times this month?
In fact, I couldn’t help but trickle in while in Knoxville seeing as one of the YMCA locations just so happens to be a stone’s throw away from a Trader Joe’s.
After scoping out what was new and fresh at the Knoxville Trader Joe’s, I naturally had to visit one in Dallas just to be sure what was found in Tennessee could also be found in Texas. Purely for research purchases.
And, at least as of this week, these goodies can be found at nearly any Trader Joe’s.
But, in typical Trader Joe’s fashion, if there’s something here that piques your interest, you’d better get off your fanny and skididdle-daddle on over. Like now!
So let’s now waste any more time and get to my Paleo(ish) round-up of Trader Joe’s finds for this month
Dear Trader Joes,
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…cheap wine, dark chocolate-covered everything, affordable plants and flowers, loads of creative paleo and gluten-free snacks and pantry goods…
You make my paleo foodie heart pitter patter with joy every single time I walk through your doors.
Upon landing in Dallas last week, you know I wanted to take advantage of being in proximity to a Trader Joes and reward myself for surviving my first solo, round-trip flying with an infant.
Or at least that was how I justified going and spending $100+ on wine, jams, cheeses, and over absolute necessities for this paleo foodie momma.
After all, I worked hard keeping my boy entertained and silenced on that 2 hour flight. Mama deserves that bottle of Prosecco and organic dark chocolate bar.
Here’s some of the goodies that found their way into my shopping basket while there last week. In typical Trader Joe’s fashion, if you’re interested in any of these, you’d better snag them soon. You never know how long they’ll last on the shelves!
And of course, if you happen to be strolling through Trader Joe's or Wal-Mart or Aldi or another grocery store and see something you think is up my alley, snap a pic, post it on Instagram or Facebook AND tag me! You never know when I'll feature your item!
Well howdy there you ray of sunshine, you!
Y’all know every now and then, I’ve gotta spice things up and share with y’all some grocery finds from places other than Wal-Mart.
Well….1) I know y’all don’t all grocery shop at Wal-Mart (lookin' at you, mom) and 2) I want to emphasize to y’all that fun, paleo-friendly groceries can be found at nearly any grocery store these days if you look for them.
So, I’m sharing with y’all today some of the magical, mystical foodies I found at the Narnia of grocery stores: Aldi.
If you have an Aldi in your area and have never set foot in it, hopefully some of these affordable paleo foods can persuade you to check it out.
So grab a snackeroo and let’s get goin, friends, cause I have LOTS to share!
